9-Day - Jo'burg : Swaziland : Kruger Park

Itinerary:
Day 1
On arrival at Johannesburg / O.R.Tambo International Airport guests are offered a choice of touring "Soweto" or entertaining themselves at the "Gold Reef City Theme Park" with an underground tour of an authentic gold mine with lunch on site. Afternoon transfer to their hotel at Lesedi Cultural Village in time for the evening show and dinner. (DBB).
Day 2
After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel we take a tour through the City of Pretoria stopping at the Voortrekker Monument, Church Square, Union Buildings and Melrose House as well as pointing out some of the historic buildings that played such an important part in our early history. A stop will be made for guests wishing to do some shopping at one of the major shopping malls. En-route to Mpumalanga a suggested stop will be made at the Premium Diamond Mine for those interested and accommodation will be arranged at a local B&B. Otherwise the tour will continue on to Nelspruit, the Capital of Mpumalanga to overnight at the Mercure Lodge. (BB).
Day 3
After breakfast we drive to the historic town of Barberton, the centre of a major gold strike by our early pioneers before the turn of the century. The drive to Swaziland is over the Saddleback Pass to the border post at Bulembu. Follow the route to Piggs Peak then along the Drakensberg Mountains stopping at the Ngwenya Glass factory. Continue on to Mbabane and the Ezuluwini Valley where we overnight. Overnight at the Mantenga Lodge or similar. (BB).
Days 4 - 6
After breakfast we visit the many Ezulwini Valley craft markets such as Swazi Candles & Baobab Batik. Continue on through Manzini and on to Mpaka and eastern lowlands to the border post at Mananga. Here we return to South Africa and drive through Komati Poort and enter the Kruger National Park at the Crocodile River gate. Once in the Park we drive through an area well known for its Lions, Rhino and Elephant. You will also see many of the plains animals such as Giraffe, Impala, Wildebeest and Warthogs. We drive to Lower Sabie rest camp (or similar) to check into our accommodation. Time permitting we do a late afternoon game drive returning to camp just before the gates close for the night. Freshen up for dinner at the camp restaurant or BBQ. The next two days will be concentrated on early morning and late afternoon game drives with a night game drive on the last day. (Three nights accommodation - BB).
Day 7
After a final early morning game drive and breakfast in the Park we drive northwards to leave the Park at the Orpen gate. That afternoon we visit the Kapama Cheetah Breeding project with lunch on site. Continue on to the hot water resort at Aventura Swadini for overnight. (One night accommodation - DBB).
Day 8
Next day we visit the Animal Rehabilitation and Birds of Prey centre at Moholoholo which is located at the base of the Drakensberg Mountains and on the way to the Panorama Route. After lunch we drive along this scenic route stopping at various places such as: The Three Rondavels, Bourke's Luck Potholes, Lisbon Falls and God's Window. This takes us to the end of the day and in time to check into our accommodation at Pilgrim's Rest another historic gold mining town. (one night accommodation at the Royal Hotel - DBB).
Day 9
After breakfast guests are transferred back to Johannesburg International Airport or Hotel where the tour ends.*Prior bookings can be made for guests wishing to extend their visit in South Africa to include Cape Town and/or the Victoria Falls.
